HTML 5 Risks - Flash Cookies

Hypertext Markup Language 5 is almost generally available to Web developers and Web users alike. This version of the web language will increase speed, make it possible to view multimedia files without the need for any software, and allow you to check email messages even when you are not connected to the Internet. In fact, it promises a completely new Web experience but one that also comes with some major privacy concerns.

We've heard about HTML cookies, which can easily be detected and removed by antivirus programs. However, what you probably have not heard about are flash cookies which are almost impossible to detect. Just when we are trying to figure out how to dodge attacks from flash cookies, HTML 5 is being launched, which uses flash cookies at the highest rate to date. With HTML 5, advertising agents will be able to monitor all your online activities from the websites you visited to the time you spent on each of them. The bad news is, there is nothing Internet users can do to protect their privacy -- at least, not yet.
