How to Activate an iPhone

The Apple iPhone is a great Smartphone. It allows you to listen to music, watch videos, make calls, browse the Internet, and much more. When you purchase a new iPhone, the next thing you need to do is to activate it. This article will go through the steps of activating your iPhone. The steps are very easy to follow, however, before we start, there are some things you will need.

Things Needed:

iPhone USB cable
iPhone Dock
iTunes App
A cellular phone service contract
Internet connection
U.S. iTunes store account
An iPhone
A computer running on Mac or Windows OS

Step 1 - First, you need to get a cellular phone contract for an iPhone if you do not currently have one. You will have to do this at a cellular carrier that sells the iPhone such as AT&T or Verizon.

Step 2 – Next, go to Apple.com. Download and install the up-to-date iTunes software on your computer.

Step 3 - Connect the iPhone to the computer using the iPhone USB cable.

Step 4 - If the iTunes application does not automatically recognize the iPhone and start immediately, open iTunes manually.

Step 5 - iTunes should start syncing and activating the iPhone immediately.

Step 6 - Wait for the activation process to complete.

The cellular phone operator will send you a message confirming the activation. After the activation is complete, you will see the message ''iPhone sync is complete''. If you run into any problems, contact the customer support center of your cellular phone carrier. If the iPhone is not activating, the customer support center will be needed to determine the problem.

It is very important to stick with the SIM card that comes with your iPhone. This is because not all SIM cards can fit into your iPhone. This shouldn’t be too big of a problem though since the SIM card is tough to get to on an iPhone.

It should also be noted that to have a legal cellular phone service contract in the U.S., you must have a valid social security number. This is one of the requirements. However, it is subject to change, so you should make some effort to stay up to date with the most recent requirements.
