Godmode in Windows 7 and Vista

The old Windows trick is back to prominence. This undocumented developer feature in Windows has been around well before Windows 7 or Vista. To invoke the so-called GodMode, right-click an empty space on your desktop or in a folder to create a shortcut and then give it an arbitrary name followed by a period and {ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}. You will end up with categorized list of Control panel tasks. This can be convenient and allows for quick and easy access to the control panel.

The name GodMode was coined by bloggers. Setting up the GodMode folder in your Windows Vista 64-bit could cause your OS to crash. So, be careful if you have the 64-bit version of Vista. There are various strings available, however, to invoke the real GodMode you need to use the string above.
