Question

How do I delete Temp Files?
-Murugan

Answer

The Temporary Internet Files (or cache) folder contains Web page content that is stored on your hard disk for quick viewing. To delete the files in the Temporary Internet Files folder, follow these steps:

  • Quit Internet Explorer and quit any instances of Windows Explorer.
  • Click Start -> Control Panel -> double-click Internet Options.
  • On the General tab, click "Delete Files" under Temporary Internet Files.
  • In the Delete Files dialog box, click to select the Delete all offline content check box, and then click OK.
  • If you haven't done this in awhile it could take a few minutes since their will be a large number of these files.

  • To do this for your firefox temporary files:

  • Open Firefox
  • At the top, click Tools -> Clear Private Data
  • Check the following boxes: Browswing History, Cache, and Offline Website Data
  • Click the "Clear Private Data Now" button.

  • Another option is download CCleaner. CCleaner has a good tool that does all of this for you.
