Backing Up Your Facebook Data
There is a way to back up your Facebook data. You can backup all types of data such as videos, pictures, links, messages, and more. As the popularity and role of social media in today's world continues to grow, users want to be able to access their personal data outside of the social network. Facebook is making this possible. People want to backup data for posterity and for other reasons. For example, let's say someone posted something slanderous against you on your Facebook wall and immediately removed it, your backed up data would come in handy in this instance. It may also be useful if you want to grab and use pictures outside the context of Facebook.
Data you can backup
With Facebook you can backup sent and received messages, your friend list, notes, events you have RSVP'd, comments, your personal profile, and other important information and files good enough to keep.
Backing up your Facebook data is simple and easy to do. Here are a few steps to help you backup your Facebook data.
1. Before you go ahead and backup your Facebook data, there are some few things you should have ready to go. Facebook requires that you identify yourself. Be prepared for that as you may be asked to identify your mutual contacts by name. You should also have enough hard drive space on your computer for the backup.
2. At this point, go ahead and login to your Facebook account.
3. On your Facebook account, click on the 'Account link', follow the drop-down menu which is located on the top-right corner of the page and click on Account Settings.
4. Through the settings tabs, identify and click on the link that says 'download your information'. Identify the link to the right of the page that says, 'Learn more'.
5. Click on 'Download'.
You are done! After clicking on download, you will receive a pop up message from Facebook saying that your data is being gathered into a ZIP file and that after the process is completed for download, you will be notified by email.
You may want to backup your data for posterity sake. You can backup those lovely messages, pictures, RSVPs, video clips and so much more. Keep in mind that backing up your Facebook data is not automatic, so you will have to do it manually. Keeping tabs of all your social media events and messages is the hallmark of a meticulous personality. Now you know it is possible to keep records of almost everything with your Facebook account.
